Sometimes a fresh perspective sparks a new passion for what you’re doing. Derek Axten can speak to this: he owns and operates a no-till, diversified grain farm in southern Saskatchewan. Axten will be sharing what he’s learned to boost his farm’s soil health at Top Crop Manager’s Soil Management and Sustainability Summit, to be held Feb. 26, 2019, in Saskatoon.
Axten has seen improvements by seeding intercrops, companion crops and cover crops. Improving soil health has allowed him to reduce synthetic inputs, increase water efficiency and build organic matter. He has also implemented controlled-traffic farming and grazing as part of the farming system. During the Summit, Derek’s presentation will discuss intercropping and his findings related to higher yield, lower disease and better profitability.
Figure out if any of these soil health practices fit your operation and register today for the 2019 Soil Management and Sustainability Summit!
The Summit is approved for 7 CCA-CEUs and 7 CCSC-CEUs.
